Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met today Saturday with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian to discuss boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields، the ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. The meeting came on the sidelines of Shoukry’s participation in the 54th Munich Security Conference (MSC) in the German city of Munich. In a press statement، Abu Zeid added that Shoukry stressed the strength of the Egyptian-Armenian friendship، noting that the Armenian community in Egypt played an important role in Egypt's political، economic and cultural development over the past two centuries.
The Foreign Minister also expressed Egypt's aspiration to sign a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Union and speed up the current negotiations in this regard. Abu Zeid added that the two sides affirmed their interest in activating the results of the joint committee held between the two countries in September 2017 in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.
