Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks with his German counterpart Sigmar Gabrielon this evening on the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference.
Shoukry said that Egypt greatly values the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries، expressing Egypt’s aspirations to see a significant leap in its relations with Germany during the coming period.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry thanked Minister Gabrielon for his efforts to promote Egyptian-German relations during his term in office.
He also pointed out to the positive developments witnessed by the Egyptian-German relations during the last period، including the enforcement of the additional protocol to legalize the status of German institutions operating in Egypt.
The Egyptian minister also pointed out to the first round of dialogue held between the two countries in Cairo in January 2018، calling on the German side to fulfill its commitments regarding enhancing agreed upon cooperation، especially border security، education and the economic support.
Shoukry also reviewed the various elements of Egypt's economic reform program and the government’s overall development plans، including national mega projects. On the other hand، Gabrielon expressed his happiness with the significant and remarkable progress achieved by Egypt in all sectors، stressing that Egypt’s success and stability constitute a priority for Germany due to its vital location
