Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting Monday with a Parliamentarian delegation from the US Congress headed by chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee، Ed Royce and Rep. Paul Cook chairman of the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. During the meeting، they discussed all different aspects of the Egyptian-American relations.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu zeid said that the meeting tackled the ways to promote the Egyptian-American relations in various aspects.
The Egyptian Minister briefed the US delegation on various aspects of the social، economic and political development currently witnessing by the Egyptian society. He also briefed the delegation on the goals and outcomes of the significant military operation ‘Sinai 2018’،highlighting the Egyptian army's efforts and sacrifices in combating terrorism.
On the other hand، Rep. Royce said that the United States highly values the sacrifices made by Egypt in its war against terrorism، confirming its intention to support Egypt in its war against terrorism.
He also expressed his full understanding on the challenges facing Egypt over the Ethiopian dam، expressing his wish to reach a tripartite agreement among Egypt، Ethiopia and Sudan the Nile soon. For his Part، Rep. Paul Cook expressed his great satisfaction regarding the development and stability witnessed by Egypt since Al-Sisi took power، confirming that the US is committed to be a strategic ally to Egypt.
