20 defendants sentenced to 10 years in jail for setting fire to a church in Kerdasa

Cairo criminal court sentenced on Tuesday 20 defendants to 10 years in jail with hard labor and sentenced 2 children to three years in jail over setting fire to a church in Kerdasa district in Giza.

the defendants face charges of joining a terrorist and illegal group aiming at disabling the constitution and preventing state institutions from carrying out their duties، possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and setting fire to a church in Kerdasa.

Noteworthy، The terrorist militants have launched several major attacks، most recently targeting Cairo and other cities with the loss of dozens of lives.

Egyptian army has struggled to crush militant violence based in Sinai، which has killed hundreds of police and troops and at times expanded to mainland cities including Cairo.

Egyptian military and security forces have been battling a dangerous insurgency in the north of the peninsula since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi in June 2013.
