Egypt is set to achieve self-sufficiency of natural gas by the end of 2018، Ministry of Petroleum's official spokesman Hamdi Abdel Aziz said.

In a statement، Abdel Aziz affirmed that the $15.1 billion deals signed between a private Egyptian energy company and Israeli firm to import gas will be subjected to the regulations regarding these issues.

He added that Egypt is moving forward to achieve self-sufficiency of natural gas by the end of 2018، allowing for the surplus to be turned into liquefied natural، either to be directed towards domestic consumption or to be re-exported.

"Egypt has facilities to turn gas into super-chilled LNG، which can be exported by ship، in addition to the latest expansions in the gas grid by adding two facilities in Damietta and Edku،" he added.
