Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathi said that his Ministry expressed his optimism to participate the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin، stressing that this would contribute to increasing the number of tourists coming to Egypt.
"Our presence is important to ease obstacles and discuss with the German side means to boost bilateral cooperation،" the minister added.
He put the number of German tourists visiting Egypt at 1.234 million، adding that "we will work to increase that figure by the end of the current year."
Germany is an important trade partner of Egypt، the minister said.
He pointed out that ITB Berlin is the largest event in the world concerning the tourism industry، which brings together a large number of decisions makers، representatives of the tourism sector from all over the world. According to Fathi، the phrase "airport security" sends negative message about Egyptian airports، insisting highest security levels are applied.
ITB Berlin kicked off in Berlin earlier today and should last until March 11.
