Haidi Al-Moghazi، a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science at the German University in Cairo (GUC)، reaches a suitable solution to benefit from the harmful wastes caused by the burning of expired cars’ rubber tires، and rice straw after the extraction of the grains، through recycling.
This solution aims at mitigating their negative effects on the environment، health and overall appearance، to contribute to reducing waste disposal cost، which drains a large part of the state budget.
It will also help in supporting the Egyptian economy through creating investment and job opportunities، in addition to providing row materials for various industries.
Through her applied studies، Al-Moghazi resorted to the integration of raw materials from rubber powder wastes with the wastes of rice straw، succeeding in extracting a new rubber material with a concentration of not less than 50%، without any reduction in the properties of the excisting rubber.
In addition، the researcher has proved through her laboratory experiments that rice straw improves the rate of The rubber material erosion in addition to being a good conductor of electricity in this material. It has been tested in many industrial fields such as covering playground floors.
Materials Science Department Head، and Thesis General Supervisor، Dr. Sayed Abdel Bari، said that the extracted product is an environmentally clean solution، does not include any harmful chemical treatments that resulted in many negative effects.
Moreover، he added that this product represents a solution to a serious dilemma facing many governments at the national and local levels.
