Liverpool's Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah expressed his sincere condolences over the death of Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher.
“Only God lasts forever، the death of Captain Samir Zaher … your body will be absent، but your achievements will still stay forever، my sincere condolences to the family.” Salah wrote in Arabic on Twitter.
Zaher died on Tuesday after a long struggle with illness. He was 75.
Zaher served two spells in charge of the Egyptian football governing association - from 1996-99 and 2005-2012.
He was credited for a hugely-successful era for the Egyptian national team، mostly named as the golden generation that won the Nations Cup for Egypt in 2006، 2008 and 2010.
He resigned from his post following Egypt's worst football tragedy when over 70 Ahly fans were killed after being confronted by rival Masry supporters following an end of an ill-tempered league game in February 2012.
