Egypt’s Grand Imam، Dr، Ahmed el-Tayyeb left Cairo earlier today، Wednesday on a foreign tour includes Portugal and Mauritania، where he will meet senior officials of the two countries and participate in a number of important events.
In Portugal، el-Tayyeb will hold meetings with Portugal’s president، parliament speaker، and Foreign Minister.
Moreover، el-Tayyeb is scheduled to give a speech in the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Society founding in Lisbon، in the presence of the President of Portugal and UN Secretary-General.
Then el-Tayyeb will head to Mauritania، where he will take part in an open debate with senior Mauritanian religious leaders on tackling violence and extremism.
Moreover، a number of memorandums of understanding is scheduled to be signed between Al-Azhar university and a number of Scientific institutions in Mauritania.
