Egypt’s industrial production، excluding crude oil and petroleum products، rose 6.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017، according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics’ (CAPMAS) quarterly bulletin. The agency added in a report that the figure stands against 127.7 billion pounds of the previous fiscal year at an increase rate of 6.1 percent.
The report indicated that food industries constituted 24.6 percent of the total production while iron and steel industries ranked second at a rate of 15.9 percent. The value of food industries، iron، steel، and metal industries، and chemical and fertilisers industries made up 24.6%، 15.9%، and 10.5%of the country’s industrial production، the CAPMAS highlighted.
The value of electronics and medical equipment industries rose 10.2% quarter-on-quarter to EGP 1.8 billion in Q2-17، compared to EGP 1.6 billion in Q1-17.
The CAPMAS had previously announced that Egypt’s industrial production rose 11.7% year-on-year in Q1-17، as the value of public and private enterprises’ industrial production amounted to EGP 127.7 billion in Q1-17، up from EGP 114.3 billion in Q1-16.
