Giza Criminal Court has acquitted the controversial TV host Reham Saeed following today’s hearing after she was charged with child abduction and human trafficking.
In an episode of Saeed's program Sabaya El-Kheir، she and her crew used a mediator to convince kidnappers to abduct two children، claiming that they would be sold to a family in an Arab country، with the intention of recording the exchange and reporting the kidnappers to the police.
The episode، which was meant to be a credited for such investigative journalism fired back، after the show editors were arrested for inciting against the two children’s kidnapping.
When the kidnappers were caught، they accused the same mediator who had appeared on Saeed's show of involvement in the crime. In turn، he pointed the finger at the show's editor and cameraman.
Soon afterwards، an arrest warrant was issued for Saeed، along with a cameraman and the editor-in-chief of the program.
This is not the first time the controversial Saeed was arrested. In February، she was sentenced to a year in jail for the interview، in which she suggested a sexual harassment victim deserved her fate.
