Arab tourists coming from Lebanon and Jordan flocked to Egypt to celebrate Sham Al-Nassim holiday at South Sinai cities. Tourist occupancies exceeded 85% in Sharm Al-Sheikh hotels، which organized various parties with the participation of the most famous singers، notably Assi El Helani، in addition to holding other parties to attract the biggest number of tourists in Sharm El-Sheikh. Egyptian tourists participated in Sham al-Nassim celebrations in Sharm El-Sheikh، raising Egypt's flags and banners to express their love for Egypt.
The city of Dahab also received huge number Egyptian tourists، who came to spend enjoyable time on the beaches of the city.
In Taba، tourist occupancies increased due to the influx of Lebanese، Jordanian and Arab tourists to celebrate Sham Al-Nassim holiday in its resorts.
According to sources in the hotel facilities room، hotels’ occupancies in Sharm el-Sheikh exceeded 70%، Dahab with 60% and Taba with 37%.
Monday marks the traditional Egyptian spring holiday of Sham El-Nassim، which is often celebrated with family outings to parks and other outdoor excursions. Reports of sexual harrassment in public places are normally higher during the holiday.
Egypt’s security forces typically boost security during national holidays، with female police officers deployed to prevent sexual harassment on the streets.
The Sham El-Nassim holiday always falls on the day after Easter Sunday in the Coptic Christian calendar.
