German University in Cairo (GUC) organized last Thursday، April 5، a ceremony to hand over the intellectual property (IP) rights of Luxor re-branding manual.
The new brand was designed by Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts staff members including; Dina Darwish، Yasmin Saleh، Yasmine Suliman، and Ghada Wali under the supervision of assistant faculty dean for Student affairs، Dr. Ahmed Wahbi.
The aim of the new Luxor brand is to show that the city goes beyond being only a historical touristic destination to a full-fledged experience which encompasses various activities.
The logo signature is designed representing key aspects from the governorate of Luxor، inspired from the ancient Egyptian beliefs and iconic symbols.
The Letter ‘L’ is a 90 degree right angel، forming most of Luxor’s architecture. The ‘U’ is inspired from the temple’s passway، also a ،metaphorical representation of the pharaonic beliefs of the afterlife and the beyond، that all doors lead to greatness. Moving to the third letter which is the ‘X’، it represents the city’s location of the east and west banks meeting at the Nile front. The letter ‘O’ is a mix of two important factors in Luxor، which are the sun and Nile; the source of Life. Last but not least، the letter ‘R’ which is a representation of The eye of Horus، reflecting the ancient Egyptian natural instinct and vision.
The rebranding of Luxor City، is the beginning of a new vision while proudly holding on to the long، and important history of the Ancient Egyptians، it is bright and fresh yet a strong statement in its message. The visuals are all welcoming، to all age groups specially the youth، it also embraces the warm impression of Luxor.
