Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail chaired today Monday a meeting of the Churches Regulating Committee to legalize the positions of churches and service buildings.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Local Development and representatives of concerned ministries and authorities.
During the meeting، they reviewed the measures taken with regard to the legalization of church positions nationwide and follow-up what has been already accomplished in this vein. During the meeting، they have agreed to legalize the positions of 166 buildings including (102 churches and 64 service buildings) in a number of governorates.
The Cabinet’s decision comes according to article number 80 for 2016 in Egypt’s law regarding regulating and building churches.
In this context، the Prime Minister pointed out to the importance of the current serious measures being taken by the government to emphasize the state's keenness to legalize the situations of churches in accordance with the provisions of the law and the constitution.
