Foreign Minister، Sameh Shoukry invited Ethiopia and Sudan to hold a meeting on Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)، but they didn’t respond till now، said Foreign Ministry Spokesman، Ahmed Abu Zeid.
In remarks to “Extra News” satellite channel، Abu Zeid added that، the proposed meeting would be attended by foreign ministers، heads of the intelligence services، and ministers of irrigation from the three countries.
Abu Zeid noted that، the meeting is planned to be held on April 20 and 21، confirming that the two African countries didn’t say their word until now.
“We are facing a great challenge. It is the time! The time passes and studies of the dam have not yet begun، Abu Zeid said.
On April 5، Egypt hold a meeting in Khartoum at the level of the foreign and irrigation ministers، in addition to heads of intelligence services of the three countries.
However، Ethiopia is going ahead to build its controversial dam.
Experts say GERD may harm Egypt’s share in Nile River. But Ethiopia denies.
