The European Union (EU) announced on Monday donation of 3.8 billion Euros to Egypt in order to modernize energy sector.
The grant aims to meet the country's sustainable development needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
For his part، EU Commissioner for Climate and Energy Miguel Arias Canete said during the EU-Egypt Sustainable Energy Forum today that the discovery of coastal gas fields in Egypt will create cooperation between the two sides.
Noteworthy، Petroleum Minister، Eng. Tarek Al-Mulla and EU Commissioner for Energy، Miguel Arias Canete inspected Zohr Gas Field in Port Said City.
Zohr Gas Field has been opened by Egypt’s President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi on January.
During the visit، the two sides reviewed the completing work of the second phase of the mega gas project.
They listened to an explanation from project Manager about drilling operations، and the ongoing construction processes in the ground.
Al-Mulla، the Commissioner of the EU and the accompanying delegation toured the treatment plant and the control room.
Canete praised the positive results achieved in the oil and gas sector recently، which confirms the success of the strategy and mechanisms of implementation.
