Sherine Abdel Wahab gives first interview after being acquitted from “Nile river” case

Egyptian superstar، Sherine Abdel Wahab gave her first interview after her father’s death، and after being after being acquitted from “Nile river” case.

During the interview with “MBC” satellite channel Sherine recounts that she got the news of her father’s death while she being in Morocco to perform a concert، proceeding، that her father was “love” for her، stressing that his will before his death was to continue in being happy، after recently marrying Hossam Habib، and to do not wear mourning clothes.

She was happy to be acquitted from the charges of insulting Egypt’s reputation، she added.

“The leaking of the “blood-flukes” video was a planned plot from someone” she stressed.

On May 8، Al-Mokattam’s court issued the final verdict in the appeal submitted by Abdel Wahab against her 6-month jail term over defaming Nile river during a concert held in the United Arab Emirates last year، and ordered Sherine to pay EGP 5،000 pending the conclusion of the appeal and a fine of EGP 1،000، according to Ahram online، where the court did not accept the lawsuit for the way the case was filed، and obliged the plaintiff civil right to pay 75 pounds.

The court after accepting the appeal against the jail sentence heard from the defense attorney for Singer، who quoted that the legendary actor Ismail Yassin in the 1953 film “Afret Am Abdou” said the same phrase used by his client، who is being trialed over، and was not tried.

The defense provided documents stating that the country has continued to fight blood-flukes and carried out awareness campaigns for citizens through all the local media، stressing that the existence of blood-flukes in Egypt is real.

In November 2017، the Musicians Syndicate banned Sherine from performing in Egypt over what it described as “unjustified mockery”. At the time، Sherine released a lengthy statement apologizing for her comment and describing it as a ‘silly joke’. She confirmed that she didn’t mean anything negative towards her country. She further promised to be more careful with what she says in the future.

Abdel Wahab was sentenced on February 27، to six months in jail over her defaming Nile river، during a concert held in the United Arab Emirates last year، and ordered Sherine to pay EGP 5،000 pending the conclusion of the appeal and a fine of EGP 1،000، according to Ahram online.

Noteworthy، her Business manager، Ayman Nabelion، announced on April 17 that the singer’s father passed away، days after Abdel Wahab، got married singer، Hossam Habeb in a villa on “Cairo-Ismailia” desert road، amid the attendance of their close friends، and family members.
