Arab League cancels Cooperation Memorandum with Guatemala

The Arab League States Secretary-General spokesman، Ahmed Aboul Gheit announced the suspension and cancellation of cooperation Memorandum signed with the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Guatemala in 2013.
The Guatemalan Government not to proceed with any cooperation between them as a result of Guatemala's position on Jerusalem situation.
According to a statement issued by the league a copy of which was received in the framework of activating the decision issued by the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council. It comes at the level of foreign ministers to condemn the Guatemala to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem and to take appropriate Political and economic measures against this move.
Afifi said in a statement on Wednesday that the Guatemalan side had been informed that this action was the result of Guatemalan move of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This is a clear and frank violation of the international consensus on the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem. This represents flagrant violation of international law and United Nations relevant resolutions. It comes in a manner that threatens international peace and security and weakens the international system based on international law.
He stressed on the Arab League's call to all countries of the world not to take the step to move their embassies to the occupied Jerusalem. He also stressed to abide by the resolutions of international legitimacy on the Palestinian issue، including those specifically related to the status of Jerusalem.
