Egypt’s Foreign Minister، Sameh Shoukry received on Thursday The parliamentary leader of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative German Christian Democarts (CDU) party، Volker Kauder, at the ministry's headquarters.
This meeting aims at following up the joint cooperation program between both countries in military، counter-terrorism، and illegal immigration fields, Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zaid said.
During the meeting، Shoukry reviewed the developments of Economic reform Program adopted by the Egyptian government، calling on German companies to invest in Egypt in the light of major national projects being carried out، and the measures taken to improve business atmosphere.
Moreover، Shoukry stressed on the importance of the German tourism to Egypt، noting that the number of German tourists who visited Egypt in 2017 reached 1.2 million.
For his part، Kauder praised the joint cooperation between Egypt، and Germany، noting that the German government understands well the magnitude of the challenges facing Egypt in order to secure its borders، and ready to provide more material and technical support to raise the Egyptian capabilities in this regard.
Meanwhile، the German official hailed Egypt’s vital role towards major regional issues، and in fighting terrorism which threatens the whole world.
