Former PM ‘Ali Lotfy’ dies at 83

Egyptian former Prime Minister، Ali Lotfy died today aged 83 at Dar Al Fouad Hospital in Cairo.

Ain Shams University said in a statement that the funeral prayer will be held tomorrow after Al Zohr prayer (afternoon) at the police mosque in the city of Sheikh Zayed in 6 October.

Lotfy was born 6 October 1935.

He served as Prime Minister of Egypt from 4 September 1985 to 9 November 1986.

Before that، he was finance minister under President Anwar Sadat’s region.

He holds a PhD in Economics، University of Lausanne.

Lotfy served as Chairman of the Shura Council and President of the Supreme Council of the Press.

He was awarded the State Award for Social Sciences from the Supreme Council of Culture in 1992
