London-headquartered auction house Sotheby’s is busy this summer auctioning some of the finest pieces of jewelry dating back from the 1920s to modern contemporary designs، Forbes Middle East reported.

Dated June 6، the Fine Jewels auction in London will see a distinguished selection of jewels with royal touch including three exquisite pieces that were formerly commissioned by HRH King Farouk of Egypt. The three jewelry pieces include a Van Cleef & Arpels diamond brooch، tie pins and cufflinks and a diamond purse handle.

One of the king’s favorite jewels is the diamond brooch، designed as a bird perched on a coral branch، by Van Cleef & Arpels to be sold for a price between $1،050 to $2،150 (£700 to £1،500).

Cufflinks and tie pin mounted with coins illustrating King Farouk’s face and another tie pin with its top decorated with a crown set with calibré-cut rubies and single-cut diamonds will also be auctioned for an estimated price of $290 to $467 (£220 to £350).

Another piece from the king’s collection to join the auction is a former purse handle adapted as a bracelet with cut-diamond flowers and baguette diamonds. This will be sold for $2،937 to $4،672.HRH King Farouk and his family owned an extensive and impressive jewelry collection and a number of pieces were designed by Parisian jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels. In December 2015، the 220-carat diamond bib-style necklace also designed by the Parisian jeweler that once belonged to Egyptian Queen Nazli—mother of King Farouk—was sold for $4.3 million by Sotheby’s.

The auction that will take place in both London and Geneva will auction jewels by Cartier، Van Cleef & Arpels، Bulgari and JAR among others.

In March 2018، a rare 18-carat gold Patek Philippe 1518—one of only 281 ever crafted—commissioned by King Farouk of Egypt in 1945، was purchased by an unidentified buyer for $912،500 at Christie’s Dubai auction.
