A U.S.-led bid has won the rights to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup، Bloomberg News reports.

The expanded 2026 men’s event، featuring 48 teams for the first time، will be played in 16 different cities -- 10 in the U.S.، plus three sites in both Canada and Mexico.

The U.S. will host 60 of the 80 matches، including the final، scheduled to be held outside New York City at MetLife Stadium.

The annual FIFA Congress، held Wednesday، the day before the start of the World Cup، this year in Russia، saw over 200 national football federations vote in Moscow between the financially secure United States-Canada-Mexico bid where all venues are ready، and a Moroccan bid that needs to build or renovate at least 14 stadiums.
