The Egyptian national team، or as most people worldwide call it، "The Pharaohs"، has finally back to the World Cup after 28 years of absence with a team which includes several international players، notably the Egyptian king، Mohamed Salah، Mohamed El-Neny، Mahmoud Trézéguet.

Here، Do you know the history of Egypt in the World Cup? Let us look at Egypt’s history with the World Cup.

Egypt participated in the World Cup twice in 1934 and 1990; we first participated in the second edition of the tournament to be the first Arab and African country to participate in the World Cup.

Abdel Rahman Fawzy was the first African and Arab player to score a goal in the history of the tournament in the game that ended with a 4-2 loss for Egypt from a top ranked team back then، Hungary.

Our second participation came in 1990، the team scored only one goal from a penalty kick scored by Magdy Abdel Ghany and bid farewell to the tournament from the group stage.

After 28 years of absence، the Egyptians returned to the World Cup، but this time will be in Russia.
Will Egypt be able to score again in World Cup and write a new chapter in Egypt’s history in football?
The Egyptian team topped its group of African qualifiers، which including Congo، Uganda and Ghana، and booked their seat at the World Cup.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in group A alongside Russia، Saudi Arabia and Uruguay; the Pharaohs' first match will be against Uruguay on Friday at 2 p.m.; then they will face Russia at 8 p.m. on Tuesday to end the group stage with a match against Saudi Arabia on Monday June 25 at 4 p.m.
