Egypt’s gov’t announces new transportation fares

The Egyptian government launched control campaigns on a number of markets to ensure the commitment of gas stations’ workers and drivers of different means of transportation to the new prices.



Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced Saturday that the increase in transportation fares will be around 10 to 20 percent، stating that most governors have set the new fares and they will be announced on public stations.


Any detected violation will be forwarded to the prosecution to take legal action against the violator.
Head of Assay & Weights Administration Abdullah Montaser، which is affiliated to the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade، revealed the sealing of 40 fuel stations during the past few days، because of the manipulation of the counter calibrations، which harm the consumer.

New Transportation fare among governorates

In Assiut، Governor Yassir el-Desouky announced the new internal and external transportation fare among the governorate with an increase of 15 to 20 percent.

The fare rate between Assiut governorate and other governorates is LE 90 to Cairo Governorate، LE 80 to Hurghada، LE 45 to Qena، LE 40 to Nagy Hamadi، LE 35 to New Valley، LE 20 to Sohag، LE 21 to Menia and LE 15 to Mallawi.

While the fare between Port Said Governorates and other governorates became LE 50 to Cairo، LE 22 to Ismailia، LE 40 to Suez and Zagazig، and LE 58 to Alexandria.
Other governorates are going to announce the new fares once they are approved by the governor.
