The giant US social media “Facebook” has launched a new feature that may be more disturbing to some users.
It announced that it began to launch automatic video ads within the Messenger application. According to the Indian website “FoneArena"، Messenger started showing ads almost a year ago، but it was static ads and not video ads. Video ads are more expensive، which means more revenue for Facebook.
Head of advertising for Messenger، Stephanos Lucacos said the company understands that this may be disliked by some people، so the company will monitor users' behavior to determine whether these ads have had a negative effect on them. Ads are expected to start automatically when the user checks his messages.
This feature has been rolled out to a small group of users at the moment.
"People who use Messenger every month are a major priority for us and will remain in control of their experience. However، continuing to control does not mean you can unsubscribe from Messenger ads، but that means you can hide or report an ad or manage your targeting preferences." Facebook said in a statement.
