Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid، Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces، and his accompanying delegation left Cairo in an official visit for Cyprus upon an invitation extended by Lieutenant-general Elias Leontaris، Commander of the Cyprus National Guard
During the visit، the Egyptian Chief of Staff is expected to hold several important meetings in order to enhance military and security cooperation and coordinate efforts exerted between the armed forces of both countries in many fields.
Noteworthy that، President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had previously held a two-day visit to Cyprus where the fifth trilateral Summit between Cyprus، Greece، and Egypt took place with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades، and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Sisi stressed that the summit focused on promoting common economic cooperation، particularly in the fields of energy and recycling، to provide job opportunities for the youth and achieve sustainable development.
In November 2014، Cyprus، Greece، and Egypt launched a tripartite cooperation committee.
