Egypt discovers archaeological coffin in Alexandria

Alexandria Security found an archaeological coffin under an estate at Sidi Gaber، Alexandria.

The assistant interior minister and director of Alexandria security service Major General Mohamed Al-Sherif received a notification from Sidi Gaber police Station-Chief. The notification said that Sidi Gaber Police station`s investigation department has found an archeological coffin under estate number 8 at Al Karmaly Street in Sidi Gaber.

The investigation explained that the place of discovery is a piece of land of about 150 Meter square. It is owned to M A M and the31-year-old contractor A A M who live at Tamazine Street of Al Rml city. The contractor asked to get a license to build an estate on the mention place. He asked for the Aixandria archeological authority`s approval. They found a closed coffin made of the black granite with 2.75 meter length، 1.85 meter and about 30 tones weight. The governorate operation department، the East neighborhood and Alexandria Archaeological Department have been notified of the discovery.

It is coordinated with the armed forces` engineering authority to extract the coffin and to do the necessary work for the coffin. The criminal investigation department (CID) has been instructed to investigate in the event with coordination with Alexandria Tourism and Archeology police. It has been coordinated with the National Security Agency and a case issued by number 81152018 administrative Sidi Gaber Polie Station.
