Tesla's Model 3 sedans can now park themselves after the firm beamed an over-the-air update to the all-electric cars this week، as the Daily Mail said
The feature was already available in the Model S and Model X and lets Tesla owners push a button to have their car pull in or out of parking spaces.
Called Summon، it also allows the vehicles to open and close garage doors and power down without a driver behind the wheel.
Once they get the wireless update، released Thursday، owners must line up their Model 3 to within 33 feet (10m) of a space to park.
They must then stand within ten feet (3m) and direct the car to park itself using the key fob or Tesla's smartphone app.
The feature is designed to be used once the user reaches their home and only on private property.
Commenting on a video of someone showing off Summon on Twitter، Musk said: 'Note، no one is in the car or controlling remotely. Car is driving entirely by itself.'
When Tesla announced Summon for the Model S and Model X in 2016، Musk said it marked the start of Tesla's goal toward full autonomy.
He claimed within two years the vehicles would be capable of autonomously driving across the country to their awaiting owner - though his company's AI software is still a long way off this feat.
Musk announced Monday the electric car firm had finally delivered on its pledge to build 5،000 Model 3s per week in an email to staff.
The Model 3، an all-electric sedan that starts from £27،000 ($35،000)، is seen as pivotal in taking Tesla from a niche car manufacturer to a mainstream automaker
Co-founder Musk first announced plans to produce 5،000 Models 3s a week back in summer 2017، predicting an increase to 100،000 a week in 2018.
Tesla missed the deadline، causing frustration among investors and customers alike.
Musk promised the 5،000 a week target would be met by the end of June، vowing to stay in a sleeping bag next to the production line so he could address any problems that might arise.
