Israeli Minister of Economic Eely Cohen said in an interview with Radio South of Hebrew on Thursday that his country will return to assassination policy against Hamas leaders during days.
“According to my assessment، Israel will soon return to the policy of assassinations to liquidate Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip،” the minister said، according to an Israeli website.
"I believe Israel may be back to assassinations starting today، as there is a tightening of measures taken by the security forces and the Israeli army against Gaza،” the Israeli minister added.
Yesterday، A Hamas delegation set out for Cairo from the blockaded Gaza Strip on Wednesday to hold talks with Egyptian officials، according to Anadolu Agency.
Egypt recently invited leaders of the Gaza-based resistance group to Cairo to discuss prospects for inter-Palestinian reconciliation and ongoing tensions along the Gaza-Israel security fence. At least 137 Gazan protesters have been martyred by Israeli army gunfire since Mar. 30، when Palestinians began holding mass rallies along the security fence.
Last month، the second Hebrew channel reported that the Israeli army is considering returning to the policy of assassinations against Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip، in response to the continued burning kites.
The military analyst in the Hebrew channel Kan Sharon informed that the army has reinforced the southern region with a number of batteries of the iron dome in anticipation of any escalation.
The channel also revealed that a mortar shell was fired at an army base near the border with the Gaza Strip، causing damage to one of the military vehicles.
