UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Geert Cappelaere praised the Egyptian government’s efforts and its partners in achieving remarkable progress in enhancing the rights of the most-disadvantaged boys and girls
In a statement issued on Thursday، Cappelaere said that Egypt had made significant progress in enhancing children's rights on many levels، including low under-five mortality rates and enrolling them in schools.
Egypt’s efforts to address the most disadvantaged children are on the right track، thanks to the renewed commitment of the government in Egypt to place the all children’ interest at the top of its priorities.

The statement added that Cappelaere has paid a three-day visit to Egypt، during which، he met a number of high level governmental officials، including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs، Investment and International Cooperation and Education، in addition to the Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood، representatives for the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

The discussions focused on key issues، including the building of the system for social workers، social protection and the critical transformation program، as well as the employment of Egyptian young men.
