THESE stunning photographs are out of this world، the sun reported.

Among them a mesmerising mosaic of the Great Orion، Aurora Borealis exploding over the south coast of Iceland and the International Space Station hopping between stars.

All of these incredible pictures are nominees for the Royal Observatory’s Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018.

The competition is run by Royal Observatory Greenwich sponsored by Insight Investment and in association with BBC Sky at Night Magazine.

This year astrophotographers from 91 countries sent in more than 4،200 spectacular entries.

The talented snappers have also captured sights from across our Solar System، galaxy and the wider universe.

Some featrue the second largest planet، Jupiter، which can be over a billion miles away from Earth and others captured the ‘Hidden Galaxy’ IC 342 near the galactic equator.

Judges this year include comedian and keen amateur astronomer، Jon Culshaw، editor of BBC Sky at Night Magazine Chris Bramley، astronomer، Dr Marek Kukula and a host of experts.
