The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) decided to impose CHF 50.000 fine against the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) over holding a friendly against Kuwait on the 25th of May.
According to FIFA website، the EFA did not abide by the mandatory break granted by the FIFA during the year. The FIFA also warned the EFA for not respecting the mandatory rest period indicated in FIFA Circular no. 1578 as well as FIFA Circular no. 5 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
The FIFA has previously ordered all squads participating in the World Cup from playing friendly or preparation matches between 21 and 27 May 2018، in order to protect players before the final competition in Russia.”
“Despite this، the Egyptian national team played an international friendly match against the national team of Kuwait on 25 May 2018،” the statement concluded. Egypt drew1-1 in Kuwait’s friendly، which was held in May at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait as part of their pre 2018 World Cup preparations.
