Syrian Vice President Najah Al-Attar opened Wednesday the 30th edition of the International Book Fair at the National Library، under the slogan ''community that reads، community that builds'، Prensa Latina news agency reported.
During the fair that will last until August 10 more than 200 domestic and foreign publishing houses are participating. Their publications that address different areas of knowledge will be exhibited in 182 pavilions.
The Fair program includes lectures، seminars، talks، concerts and signing of books by known figures in the intellectual، political، cultural and literary world.
The first edition of the Book Fair was held in 1985، one year after the opening of the National Library in order to help increase editorial work in Syria and deepen the relationship between the reader and the book.
