Egyptian actress Hala Shiha announced in 2006 her retirement from acting and wearing the veil after co-starring in several blockbuster films such as “Lembi”، “Oredo Kholaan”، “Aaris Men Geha Amnya”، and others.
She surprised her audiences at the time with the withdrawal from acting and wearing the veil.
Her last artistic work was 2006 film “Kamel El Awsaf” (Mr. Perfect)، during which she co-starred in the film with her veil.
During her retirement، she partook in Charity work and preaching in Islam (Dawah) before wearing niqab.
‘Taking off her niqab’
On July 12، Mohamed Emad، a dentist posted on his “Facebook” page a picture in his clinic accompanied by Hana، and Hala Shiha، in her latest public appearance.
Hala went viral across the social media after appearing in the picture without her niqab “face-covering clothing”، wearing only the veil.
The picture stirred a controversy، especially among her fans who were surprised by the move، which comes after her recent confirmation that she will not take off her niqab، which she was wearing for nearly five years.
Social media users shared the picture while expressing their wishes for her to return to acting.
‘Taking off her veil’
Hala، 39، decided days ago to take off her veil and resume her acting career after an absence of almost 12 years، after thinking for a long time.
She released a press statement stressing that she will resume her acting career and that she has a great interest in this direction but has not yet defined her destination.
She revealed in a private press release that she missed standing in front of the camera، and participating in works bearing contents and ideas that triumph for humanity، which is encouraged by her husband.
She revealed that she is living these days in a humanitarian and artistic state with the near return to present what she love of works that will have an impact on the conscience like her previous works.
“Shiha truly left the veil behind”

This time she was without her veil.
"Hala Shiha in my clinic yesterday, it's not an old picture" he captioned.
A number of social media users circulated a new picture of her after taking off the veil، and circulated a picture of the actress and her Canadian husband.
Hala Shiha and her husband left the spotlight after religious commitment and wearing the veil in 2007، after marrying Joseph Hirsen، a Canadian man and who declared his Islam four years before his marriage، and together they have two daughters، Khadija and Hana.
A number of social media users and celebrities also criticized her for talking of the veil، across social media platforms.
Twitter users also flooded the social network with messages about Shiha.

A number of actors took to their social media to show their support after Shiha took off her veil behind and resumed her acting career after 12 years of retirement including actor، Wafaa Amer، Ayten Amer، Ahmed Wafik، and others.
Wafaa Amer took to her Facebook saying: “Hala Shiha is free to do what she wishes to، and is a very respectable girl"
" Those who change their ideas.. their opinion.. their conviction.. or even their principles.. are A proof that they lived right.” Ahmed Wafik wrote on his Facebook page.
Noteworthy، Hala Ahmed Shiha، known as Hala Shiha، is a retired Egyptian actress. She isborn on February 23، 1979 in Cairo، Egypt، to an international acclaimed painter Ahmed Shiha، and a Lebanese mother who is also an artist.
She is the eldest out of four daughters، her sister is well-known actress، Hana Shiha.
She is best known for portraying the main roles in The Ladder and The Snake، and Lost in America.
She officially retired from the entertainment industry in the 2005، after she decided to start wearing the hijab. The following year، she made a brief comeback to star in a role with her hijab.
Her decision to start wearing the hijab and retire from the entertainment industry at such a young age and so soon in her career caused controversy.
It sparked a massive debate in Egypt about the veil and the decline of secularism within Egyptian society and among Egyptians.
Hala Shiha is a devout muslim. She shocked the entertainment world when she announced her retirement for the second time in her career، the first time was in 2003، because she decided to "recommit herself to Islam".
Originally، deciding to wear the hijab in 2003 Hala had taken off her Islamic headdress (Hijab) after wearing it for a period of two months amidst objection from family and members of the acting world.
She returned to wearing it in 2005 once she declared she was planning to quit acting.
