While AT&T and Verizon have already teased the 5G arrival of the Galaxy S10 ‘Beyond X’، confusion reigns about the all-new design Samsung has planned. Thanks to a historically reliable contact، I believe I now know the answer، Forbes reported،
Working with popular case maker Ghostek (which has previously supplied me with what proved to be accurate pre-release renders of the iPhone XR، twice، and Galaxy S9)، I have now attained a render of the Galaxy S10. This is not to be confused with the new flat-screen entry-level S10 or the larger Galaxy S10+ and six-camera sporting Beyond X. But this is expected to be the model most customers will buy.
The big takeaway from this render is the combination of a near bezel-less display with a single lens ‘cutout’ front camera which is in-line with Samsung’s new Infinity-O screens. It will sit in the right corner of the display and be merged with the status bar - a concept render of how this will be done can be seen below.
On the back is a new triple camera array with both zoom and super wide-angle lenses joining the main shooter. By contrast، the larger Galaxy S10+ and the still-codenamed Beyond X، will feature dual front cameras and up to four rear cameras.
How confident is Ghostek in its information on the standard S10? To the extent that it is now modelling its cases ahead of finalising mass production. In fact، the case you can see in the image above is the company’s Covert2 slim-line which is already commercially available for the Galaxy and iPhone ranges.
Needless to say، like any leak، Ghostek could be wrong but the company has been consistently accurate in the past. The only exception to this was a misreading of an iPhone XS schematic and yet the core details were again Interestingly، you can’t see what is arguably the biggest upgrade on the Galaxy S10 range from the Ghostek render. This is the launch of an in-display ‘3D Sonic Sensor’ fingerprint reader which Qualcomm confirmed earlier this week.
As for bad news، facial recognition is not expected to make it and 5G is being limited to the Beyond X model only. There are also rumours the headphone jack will be removed، but I now understand it has won a last-minute reprieve.
Does the Galaxy S10 do enough to warrant its elevated position at the 10th-anniversary face of Samsung’s Galaxy range? I think it just might…
