Dr Amr Hassan، commissar of the National Council of Population، said that Egypt’s population grew to 98 million people according to data shown by the population O’clock of the Central Agency of the Public Mobilization and Statics. He added during the conference of Role of the Civil Society Organizations in Supporting Health System and Facing the Population Crisis، held today in Suez Governorate، that Egypt’s population grows by 2.56 million people every year. He expected that the population will increase to 119 million strong by 2030، if pace of increasing continues at the same percentage. He assured that implementing the national strategy of population decreases the projected number to 111 million people only by 2013. He revealed that the population crisis is related to poverty، illiteracy and child labor.
