Expert recommends “sweet potatoe” to produce bread instead of wheat flour

Dr Eman Salem، Directress of Institute of Food Technologies، said that they have started since the 80s to find alternatives to save wheat.
She added that experts succeeded in using flour of corn as an ingredient in producing subsided bread.
She went on to say during an interview with “ Man Sayzraa al Million?-who cultivates the million Acres?” program aired today on “Al Seha wa Al Gamal” Satellite Channel، that barley is cultivated in winter and used as an alternative to wheat.
Barley-based bread called healthy bread for many benefits.
Barley could be planted widely in Sinai Peninsula as it depends on rain.
Dr Salem revealed that “sweet potatoe ” could be also used to produce bread after drying and converting it to flour.
