"To our partners in the Middle East…we will not leave the region،” said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo، who is currently touring a number of Arab countries including Egypt.
Pompeo added that eradicating ISIS is our sole goal that will be achieved only by cooperation with our partners.
He pointed out that a US-Poland sponsored summit with world leaders on Iran will be held next month.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo brought the Trump administration’s anti-Iran message to Gulf Arab states on Friday، arriving in Bahrain to continue a nine-nation tour of the Middle East aimed at reassuring America’s partners that withdrawing troops from Syria does not mean Washington is abandoning the region.
"We are working to find a political path in Syria that enables displaced people to return to their homes. Everyone must know that the Syrian Kurds are not terrorists، Pompeo said، adding that Washington understands Turkey's motives in protecting its borders and people،".
"We want to form an Arab coalition capable of confronting the challenges in the region،" he concluded.
Washington's top diplomat was speaking at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on the third leg of a key Middle East tour.
He had earlier met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi، after arriving in Cairo late Wednesday on a trip which has already taken him to Jordan، Baghdad and Erbil.
