Egypt’s Ismaily SC lost 2-0 to its rival of Congo’s TP Mazembe in their first group stage opener in the CAF Champions League.

Ismaily squandered a penalty in the 44th minute when Mazembe goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo got sent off.

Mazembe managed to break the deadlock when Chico Wa Kubanza scored the opening goal for his side in the 83rd minute.

Three minutes later Congolese defender Kevin Mondeko Zatu doubled the scoring.
Ismaily was drawn in Group C alongside TP Mazembe، Algeria’s CS Constantine and Tunisian giants Club Africain.

Following this result، Ismaily currently sits bottom in their group with no points. They will face third-placed Club African in their next game on January 18.

The Daraweesh made six transfers in winter and included three of them in the squad to face TP Mazembe. These players are Benson Shilongo، Odah Marshal and Mahmoud Dunga.
