Blocky Chevrolet Silverado shows up in new ‘LEGO Movie’ ad

Chevrolet has launched a joint ad campaign for the new Silverado with the new LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part، to drum up as much excitement for the new vehicle as possible، Ad Age reports، according to Driving website.
The spot features the film’s main characters، Emmet and Lucy (voiced by Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks)، attempting to escape a villain in a LEGO car.
When that fails and the car is destroyed، Emmet builds a brand-new Silverado for them to escape in.
It doesn’t take long for the ad to break the fourth wall and call attention to the obvious product placement، all in good fun.
Usually، when you build a vehicle out of LEGO it becomes all boxy and ugly-looking، like the recently-bricked-up Aston Martin DB5، but since we’re talking about a Silverado، the toy adaptation works pretty perfectly in this application.
GM plans to aggressively market the new Silverado but will shy away from taking out an ad at this year’s Super Bowl. It seems like kind of a misstep for the marketing department—how many children are going to want to buy a new Silverado after watching the LEGO Movie?
It would make a lot more sense to draft a Silverado ad targeted toward the young to middle-aged demographic that watches the famous football ads، in our opinion.
The LEGO Silverado will be featured in ads around social media، as well as in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
