Cairo Book Fair to host a seminar for actress Laila Elwy tomorrow

The 50th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) will host tomorrow، Friday a seminar for prominent actress، Laila Elwy، which will be will be moderated by journalist، Amal Othman.

In the seminar، Laila will address a number of artistic topics including the major stations in her artistic career that rose up her to stardom.

She will also unveil the secrets of the generation that she worked with in several TV series and unforgettable films.

The seminar will also witness Elwy being honored with the book fair shield.

The 50th edition runs from January 23 to February 5th، held for the first time in the outer suburbs of the city.

Noteworthy، Laila Elwy is an Egyptian actress. She was born on January 4، 1962 to an Egyptian father and a Greek mother. Her full name is Laila Ahmed Elwy.

Her career began when she was still quite young with Abla Fadeela at the Radio broadcast and Mama Samiha on children programming on television.

Laila studied at French schools and graduated in 1991 from the faculty of commerce. She took small parts in films as a child and performed in several titles. Nour El-Sherif noticed her talents on stage.

Among the stage productions which she has taken part in are “al-Brenseesa” (“The Princess”)، “Gamilla wa Wahshayn” (“Two Beasts and a Beauty”)، “Baklarious fee Hokm al-Sha’b” (“A Degree in Governing the People”)، “8 Sittat” (“8 Women”) and “Sahlab”.

Laila took part in the television series “Dimoo’ Fawq al-Haqiqa” (“Tears Over the Truth”) in her first television role as a mature actress.

Her television performances have included “al-‘Aaila” (“The Family”)، “al-Tawaam” (“The Twins”)، “’Atfet Khoukha”، “Teyoor al-Sayf” (“Birds of Summer”)، “Akho al-Bannat” (“Brother to the Girls”)، “Ta’aaly Nahlam bi Bokra” (“Let’s Dream of Tomorrow”) and “Alf Leyla wa Leyla” (“One Thousand and One Nights”).

Laila has received numerous film awards and has worked as a producer on the film “Ya Mihalabiya ya”. The actress was also honored at several festivals including the Love Festival of 2002.

She could be considered among the most intelligent actresses in her generation and her performances were particularly memorable in “al-Muzniboon” (“The Guilty”) and “Kharag wa lam Ya’od” (“He Left but did not Return”).
