French Daily newspaper، Le Monde sheds light on Egypt’s presidency of African union (AU)، under the leadership of President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi.
The 2019 will be Africa's year for Egypt، especially as Cairo prepares to host the African Nations Cup next June، the newspaper said، referring to President al-Sisi’s assertion، in his word before the opening session of the 32nd African Summit، on the necessity to continue improving peace and security in Africa in a comprehensive and sustainable way.
Moreover، The Newspaper added that Egypt works to deepen its presence in Africa، stressing that Egypt will restore its political and economic influence in the continent.
Additionally، The Newspaper quoted an European Diplomat as saying that Egypt gives a high priority to The African Union، and will focus on a number of files especially countering terrorism، illegal immigration، development and economic integration of the continent.
Noteworthy، President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Sunday the chairmanship of the African Union from Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame for a one-year term.
