Up to 100 children and many others are feared trapped after a building، which contained a primary school collapsed in Lagos on Wednesday، Nigeria's emergency agency said، euronews reported.
“It is believed that many people including children are currently trapped in the building،” Ibrahim Farinloye، a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency's southwest region said، adding that casualty figures are not yet available.
Residents of the area told Reuters around 100 children attended the school، which was on the third floor of the building.
Building collapses occur frequently in Nigeria due to poor implementation of construction regulations.
In 2016، more than 100 people were killed when a church came down in the southeast of the country.
The same year، a five-story building in Lagos still under construction collapsed، killing at least 30.
