The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned the Hungarian envoy in protest over the opening of a representative commercial office in East Jerusalem، Xinhua reported.
Amal Jado، assistant foreign minister on Europe affairs، met with Csaba Rada، head of mission of the office of Hungary، to express the Palestinian anger over the Hungarian diplomatic move، according to a ministry press statement.
Jado considered the move "an assault against the Palestinian، Islamic and Arab entirety، and is a violation of international law and the position of the European Union toward Jerusalem."
This move "jeopardizes the bilateral relations between the two countries and would have severe consequences on all levels،" the statement said.
The foreign ministry also said the Palestinian ambassador to Hungary has been recalled for consultation over the issue.
Palestine will ask the Organisation of Islamic Countries to take measures against Hungary "since it has harmed the Palestinian sovereignty،" the ministry statement said.
