EBRD’S investments in Egypt amounted to $4.8 billion: Sir Chakrabarti

Egypt's Investment، and international cooperation minister، Dr. Sahar Nasr participated in a session on best ways to finance in infrastructure as part of the World Bank (WB) spring meetings held in Washington، in the presence of President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)، Sir Suma Chakrabarti.

Chakrabarti stressed on EBRD keenness to cooperate with Egypt in the light of Egypt’s Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi presidency to the African Union (AU)، to promote economic integration within the black continent through the bank’s investment flows، especially in infrastructure projects.

He also confirmed that EBRD is committed to support Egypt in its reform efforts، noting that EBRD’s investments in Egypt amounted to $4.8 billion، which represent 50% of its total investments in Africa.

For her part، Nasr assured that infrastructure is the key driver of economic growth، and the attraction of new investments in the development countries especially in Transport، Energy، Water، communications fields.
