The just-introduced 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster is already plenty exclusive because fewer than 2000 will be built. To add a nostalgic competition element to the already retro vibe of the new Speedster، Porsche has brought out this Heritage Design package option. Created by combining numerous graphic elements cherry-picked from the brand's long racing history، the package is hews closely to the graphics that adorned the Speedster concept the manufacturer debuted last year.
The Heritage Design package is available exclusively with the GT Silver Metallic paint color. It features a painted white front bumper and fender "arrows،” which stretch back over the fenders and come to a point near the windshield. Classic white "gumball" spheres appear on the front luggage lid and both doors. These are doubtless inspired by their use on historic 356 models; the owners of those cars would personally embellish a starting number on them for a specific race or motoring event. The Heritage stickers can be added via the Porsche Tequipment accessories division or can be left out of the package entirely. Classic Porsche lettering treatment resides on the lower doors. (The "gumball" practice remained in practice well past the 356's heyday; the 1971 Porsche 911 ST 2.5 rally car pictured below is a perfect example of the continuing tradition.)
Additional features include a Platinum Satin finish on the 20-inch center-lock wheels with Porsche crest centers. (A silver finish is available for those who find the Platinum Satin not to their taste.) Behind the rolling stock reside black painted calipers with "Porsche" letting in white. "Speedster" model designations on the sides and rear of the vehicle are rendered in gold script.
Interior details include a two-tone Black and Cognac leather treatment. The Cognac leather bucket seats feature an embossed Porsche crest in the headrest، and the seatbacks and interior trim bits are finished in the same GT Metallic Silver color as the car's exterior. The 12-o'clock center marker on the steering wheel and center console lid also get the Cognac treatment، the latter embossed with "Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur" lettering as an acknowledgment to the Porsche entity that created and executes the package. Between the seats there's a gold Limited Edition plaque.
But for all the Heritage Design package's charm، it's the included Chronograph 911 Speedster Heritage Design timepiece from Porsche Design that will seal the deal for a small subset of Porsche-philes who are on the perpetual hunt for a new Porsche-centric trinket to add to their collection. Featuring Porsche Heritage Design package–specific elements including a carbon-fiber dial، a band crafted of genuine Porsche interior leather and thread، and a rotor modeled after the Speedster Heritage Design package center-lock wheel، it's an impressive piece of work by any standard and is sure to titillate well-heeled aficionados looking to strengthen their bond with the Zuffenhausen mystique.
While the MSRP for the 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster is $275،750، the price for the Heritage Design package has not yet been announced. As a reminder، Porsche is building but 1948 copies of the Speedster، although we don't know how many will make the trip to the U.S. We recommend you get on your dealer's good side well in advance of the order book's opening date of May 7.
