Egypt’s Catholic Church condemns Sri Lanka terrorist attacks

The Catholic Church in Egypt has condemned blasts that occurred at a number of churches in Sri Lanka earlier Sunday and killed about 160 persons.

A series of explosions on Palm Sunday also left more than 140 persons wounded، according to the latest toll.

"The Catholic Church in Egypt condoles with the families of the victims for the deaths and wishes the injured a speedy recovery"، it said in a statement.

"The Catholic Church in Egypt prays for love and peace in the face of death and terrorism"، the statement added.

At least 160 people were killed and hundreds injured as multiple blasts hit churches and hotels in Sri Lanka as worshippers attended Easter Sunday services.

At least 45 people were reported dead in Colombo، where three hotels and a church were hit. Another 67 were killed in an attack on a church in Negombo north of the capital، with another 25 dead at a church in the town of Batticaloa، in the east of the country.
