The Egyptian Football Association’s Competitions Committee (CC) headed by Amer Hussein decided Wednesday to hold the Cairo Derby between Al-Ahly and its arch rivals of Zamalek as scheduled at the end of the Egyptian Premier League.
The Committee has earlier expressed its desire to hold the 111 Cairo Derby before the launch of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for June 2019.
Zamalek SC president Mortada Mansour rejected playing the derby before AFCON 2019، threatening to walk out from the league.
Noteworthy، the Whites sealed their place in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup with a goalless draw at away to Étoile Sportive du Sahel from Tunisia (ESS) which saw them through 1-0 on aggregate.
The two rivals met on the pitch of Stade Olympique de Sousse at 9:00 pm (Cairo local time).
It is the first time for Al Zamalek to reach the final of that tournament.
