Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa announced allocating LE 300 million ($17.71 million) for the neediest villages and the Education Support Fund.

This came on Wednesday during the weekly meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli، Egypt Today reported.

The ministry decided to grant LE 200 million as a contribution for Hayah Karima (Decent Life) initiative، which is implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity، to target the neediest families nationwide. The rest of the contribution (LE 100 million) will be granted to the Education Support Fund.

This contribution comes within the framework of the social role of the ministry، and its efforts to serve the society.

International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Egypt's mission، headed by Subir Lall، praised earlier in May Egypt's social protection programs، particularly the Takaful and Karama (Solidarity and Dignity) program، aiming to support needy families.

The mission reviewed the most prominent achievements of the program، which was launched in 2015، as it managed to reach 9 million citizens in all Egyptian villages، and establish a database with the full information about 27 million Egyptian citizens.
