Hatim Naguib، Head of Vegetables and Fruits at Cairo Chamber of Commerce، said that higher prices of lemon nowadays due to a spell of climate change hit the country over the last days. Higher temperature degrees plucked lemon trees of buds. This led to decrease of the supply in local markets. Scarcity of the supply also synchronized with the holy month of Ramadan and Eid El Fitr when consumption increases significantly. Naguib added over remarks to “ Sada El bald” website news، that the agricultural season affects negatively of product of lemon. He expected that prices will decrease when growers of lemon harvest the new product within days. It is worth to mention that there are about 40 thousand acres cultivated with lemon in Egypt according to up to date figures.
